Do Australians Pray

I can't get enough of statistics. The NCLS have released some of the research conducted in December about faith in Australia. A summary and discussion of some of the findings can be found in the latest edition of Eternity and at their website.

There are lots of interesting findings including:
  • 11% of Australians go to church at least weekly.
  • 61% say spirituality is either of little importance or not important at all.
  • 28% say they have had a mystical or supernatural experience.

Life of Jesus

The Life of Jesus YouTube Channel has cinematic depictions of the Gospel of John. These could be useful in chapel for presenting a Gospel reading.

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a prayer campaign initiated by the Archbishop's of Canterbury and York in 2016. The website has links to all kinds of prayer resources worth exploring. There is also a great little video below from Justin Welby.

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. What started out as an invitation from the Archbishops’ of Canterbury and York in 2016 to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

Unlocking Gifts

The latest publication from the Church of England's National Society is called Unlocking Gifts. It tells the story of a number of projects that were run across the country with grant money. The intention behind the grant money and projects was on making a difference for the most disadvantaged students in their communities.

The Right Reverend Stephen Conway says in the report:

"The gospel message calls us all to a life of service, particularly to the poor and disadvantaged, and we are passionate about the role our schools can and must play in this. Unlocking Gifts is an outworking of that passion."

There are some great ideas, insights and research in this report.
